We can only sell to a new customer once.

Chapman “Chap” Berrier was born and raised in Clemmons, North Carolina. Early in his career he was a corporate recruiter and trainer for Advanced Auto Parts. After ten years of traveling extensively along the entire eastern seaboard, he was ready to be home for his family.

“I wanted to go in a different direction,” said Chap. “Aviation had always been an interest of mine, so I studied to become a repair technician, starting at Piedmont Aviation in 1999. Learning the workings of aircraft systems and components was a good fit for me.

“Within fifteen years, I had progressed to VP of Operations then decided to move into sales. I made a lot of connections supporting customers, including Jeff Lambert at Collins Aerospace. When Jeff became President and CEO of TAG Aero in 2021, he recruited me as Vice President of Sales.

“TAG is a world leader in inventory availability. But customers always have a choice, so we work to make things as simple and fast as we can. My primary role is making sure they see TAG as their best choice for Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) sales, leasing, and trading.

“Customers choose the suppliers they trust to support them how and when they need it. We understand that one unhappy experience is all it could take to lose them. And we can only sell to a new customer once. If it wasn’t a good experience, they won’t come back.

“TAG’s customer base is largely airlines and end users, as well as other traders and brokers. Our Repair Station was awarded TOP SHOP in APU Overhaul four years running, which speaks to the level of support TAG provides the industry worldwide,” Chap concluded.

Chap’s strategy for success is being a “difference maker,” and empowering his team with:

  • Comprehensive tools and documentation to efficiently manage accounts
  • Available on-demand inventory
  • Capability to be flexible and fast moving
  • Authority to make decisions quickly
  • Flexibility to satisfy special customer requests
  • An environment that encourages enjoying what they do and having fun working together

Chap enjoys racing motocross. His passion is buying and selling motorcycles and searching for the next bike he can fix up, ride for a while, then sell.
