- Precision Heliparts (PHP) is founded by Scott James in Atlanta, Ga. and enters a collaborative venture with Precision Avionics & Instruments (PAI)
History of PAG Companies
Precision Heliparts (PHP) was founded in 1993 by Scott James to supply parts to the helicopter industry. Located in Atlanta, Ga., PHP began as a collaborative venture with Precision Accessories & Instruments (PAI), an FAA/JAA instrument and accessory repair station. PAI was well-established in the fixed-wing regional airline market and wanted to expand into the rotary-wing market.
In 1995, PHP moved to its present location on Lake Mirror Road adjacent to Atlanta International Airport (KATL) sharing building space with PAI.
In 1999, only 6 years after it was founded with one employee working out of a storage closet , PHP was named one of America’s Fastest Growing Companies by Inc. Magazine.
In the late 1990s, PAI was acquired by Dallas Airmotive/BBA, leaving PHP and PAI independent of each other, though they continued to have a close working relationship, sharing the same address.
PHP expanded into the Canadian market in 2002, opening Precision Heliparts-Canada (PHP-C) in Vancouver.
When PHP obtained a U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) repair station certification in 2003, it marked a turning point in the company history, launching it into MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) market.
PHP and PAI Reunite
In 2004, PHP acquired (PAI), its neighbor and venture partner in the early days of the company, from Dallas Airmotive/BBA Aviation. This acqusition led to the creation of Precision Aviation Group (PAG) as the parent company for PHP, PHP-C and PAI.
PHP had become a preferred choice for helicopter maintenance, repair, and upgrades. With the PAI acquisition, PHP could extend the same level of service to fixed-wing operators and be well-positioned for growth.
Launch of Sister Companies Brings PHP Closer to Customers around the World
In 2008, PHP-C and Precision Accessories & Instruments (PAI-C), launched the previous year by PAG, consolidated their operations when they moved into a new 15,000 square-foot facility.
To serve booming rotary-wing markets, PAG launched two new companies in 2013: Lafayette, La. (PHP-LA) in the US and Precision Aviation Group Australia PTY LTD (PHP-AU) in Brisbane, Australia – both 5,000-square-foot sales and service facilities.
Today, PHP is one of PAG’ s nine operating companies. Together they have locations in the United States, Canada, Singapore and Australia and form a global network of support that offers PAG’s trademarked ISMRO® (Inventory Supported Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Services ) for both fixed-and rotary-wing operators. PAG is one of only 11 companies worldwide outside OEMs (original equipment manufacturer) to collectively hold all FAA, EASE, AO and AMO certifications.
