- Precision Heliparts (PHP) is founded by Scott James in Atlanta, Ga. and enters collaborative venture with Precision Avionics & Instruments (PAI)
In 2007, Precision Accessories & Instruments (PAI-Canada) was founded in Vancouver, B.C. by Precision Aviation Group (PAG) to expand its MRO services for fixed-and rotary-wing aircraft into the Canadian market. PAI-C is supported by a family of companies offering products and value-added services to the worldwide aerospace industry.
History of PAG
In 1993, Precision Avionics & Instruments (PAI), located in Atlanta, Ga., was well-established in the fixed-wing regional airline market. PAI wanted to expand into the rotary-wing market and entered a collaborative venture with Precision Heliparts (PHP), founded that year by Scott James to supply parts to the helicopter industry.
In 1995, PAI moved to its present location on Lake Mirror Road adjacent to Atlanta International Airport (KATL) sharing building space with PHP.
In 1997, PAI was acquired by Dallas Airmotive/BBA, leaving PAI and PHP independent of each other, though they continued to have a close working relationship, sharing the same address.
PAI and PHP Companies Unite
By 2004, Dallas Airmotive/BBA Aviation’s primary customer base, domestic regional airlines, had phased out rotary-wing aircraft. This opened up the opportunity for PHP to acquire PAI, because PHP had a large international customer base of operators with both fixed and rotary-wing aircraft in their fleets. PHP had obtained a U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) repair station certification the year before and entered the MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) market. The acquisition of PAI gave PHP the ability to expand MRO services into the fixed-wing market.
This acquisition also led to the creation of Precision Aviation Group (PAG) as the parent company for PAI, PHP,and the PHP-C , which PHP had launched in 2002.
Expansion with Launch of Sister Companies Brings PAI Close to Customers Around the World
Precision Accessories & Instruments Canada (PAI-C) was founded in 2007 with the acquisition of Pegasus Aircraft Components of Vancouver. The following year, PAI-C moved into consolidated operation with sister company PHP-C in a new 15,000 square-foot facility.
In 2013, PAG opened Precision Accessories and Instruments (PAI-AU) in Brisbane, Australia to be closer to customers in the Australasia Region.
Today, PAI and its sister companies PAI-C and PAI-AU are among PAG’ s nine operating companies. Together they have locations in the United States, Canada, Singapore and Australia and form a global network of support that offers PAG’s trademarked ISMRO® (Inventory Supported Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Services ) for both fixed-and rotary-wing operators. PAG is one of only 11 companies worldwide outside OEMs (original equipment manufacturer) to collectively hold all FAA, EASE, AO and AMO certifications.
